Book Shop Photoshoot

I took the chance a few weeks ago and reached out to a local book store. I asked if I could come in and do a photoshoot with my kiddo that is a Book Lover.

They said, “Yes!”.

So on a cold, wet, rainy day in Florida we headed to the book store with a backpack, a few books, and my camera in hand. The results were amazing. This is a kid that doesn’t really smile for pictures and it takes a lot of work to get her comfortable in front of my camera.

The challenge became much easier as I let her pick a couple of books (at a great price by the way). I snapped pictures as she was picking out her books, and then did a few creative poses along the way.

The book store owner was great! She actually stayed a little bit late (that was the plan all along) for me to get these shots.

These are probably my favorite type of photoshoots. I love telling a story, and hopefully this kiddo will see these pictures years from now and remember two things…. #1 the memories of the two of us laughing in the store as I was posing her and making her hold a book to her face, and #2 that reading takes her to such a magically place.

I pray that her love of reading never ends and that she always has a good book to get lost in.

When we walked into the book shop, there were two employees behind the counter and another on the floor. There were also three or four customers shopping around. It is a bustling shop for sure. This is the best little book shop around. If you are local to me (Central Florida) it is worth it. They sell mostly used books, but their selection is bursting at the seams. They also carry local authors and a selection of games and puzzles. Check out their website for a glimpse at their selection at the link below.

I really think an in person visit is worth it though. Every genre is well represented. The books are used (mostly) but they are very gently used.

My Gear

I shot this photoshoot with my:

  • Canon R6 Mark II
  • RF50 mm 1.8/f
  • SanDisk 64GB SD Card (two of them)
  • I did bring my flash, but didn’t end up using it.

Check out my Amazon Store Front for all my Photography Gear (and Must Haves)
